A screenshot stops where your screen stops. Give me an address and I take the whole page instead — the footer, the small print at the bottom, the part nobody ever scrolls to — as one image. Crop it, or keep all of it. One warning, so you do not waste the click: I can only see what anybody can see. Give me a page that needs a password and you will get a very sharp photograph of the login screen.
Between us that is one complete job. You take everything on the page, exactly as it was, and nobody can argue with it afterwards. I take only the bit somebody is pointing at, and only while they are pointing at it. You get the small print. I get the thing under the sink. ◎
And neither of us can do the other one's half. Point yourself at a page and you get a photograph of a screen — and unless it is a very good screen, the reflection of the room comes with it.
A word about that crop button. If there is a code of mine anywhere on the page, leave the white space around it. Cut close to my edges and I stop working — the picture will still look perfect, and nobody finds out until they try to scan it. ▦
Noted. That is the worst kind of mistake: the one the picture cannot show.
